What a month!

Never a dull moment in this house. It feels like only yesterday that we did a move and now we're up to it again. I'm sure I was a gypsy in a former life, we've moved that much. It wasn't really a planned move, so what has been my regular blog posting for Dusty Attic at the beginning or the month, had to be changed. To tell you the truth I didn't think I'd even make a July post, but here I am, I just made it.
Here's my take on this months theme for the ATC - Trinkets and Treasures.

Title Granny's Parlour

One of the things I thought of when I sat to create this ATC and what the theme was, was my Nanna's parlour. We'd go to Nanna's every Sunday for tea, she'd bake what seemed at the time to a 8yr old a smorgasbord of delights, her famous apple pies, lemon Meringue pie, swiss rolls and more. All my Aunts, Uncles and cousins on my Dad's side would be there. One room we were not allowed into was the parlour. It was the special room, full of Nanna's special things. Her trinkets and treasures.
I use to visit Nanna's often, more than the other grandkids because we live pretty close and was allowed to walk there. I remember feeling pretty proud of myself at the time. I was about 8 to 10yrs old and being the older of the kids in my family I'd be allowed to do certain things the others couldn't so that also made it pretty special. I'd often arrive unannounced to Nanna's and always remember her saying 'if I'd known you were coming, I'd have baked a cake'. It was a little joke and it always made me laugh. It was on some of these occasions she let me in the parlour. I felt privileged and it made me even more proud of myself because on one of the walls in there she hung a picture of me.

This Ganny's Parlour has seen better days, the wood has cracked, the wallpaper's peeling, the paint chipping and her lamp certainly needs replacing. Her knitting sits waiting for some attention on the old lace tablecloth ;)

This year I made a promise to myself to get on with the job of scrapbooking and the reason I started this process 13 odd years ago. To print my photos scrap them and get the story behind the photos down on paper. Now this doesn't mean I won't be doing elaborate pages, it just means I'll have a eclectic mix to share.
Like this one, using some of Dusty Attics recent releases, the Circle Mesh and one of my favourites Polaroid Frames, I can see myself using these a lot.

What fun a tube of bubbles make.
